The word Hurricane is from Huracán in Spanish and the Spanish word is from the Taino Native American word Hurakán that means the god of the storm. What is called a hurricane then? What about a typhoon, a cyclone, or a tornado? What’s the difference?

Hurricane Sandy Alert – No Classes Monday
We’re sure you have all heard about Hurricane Sandy approaching NYC. The MTA will begin shut down at 7:00 PM on Sunday evening. As of now, no one can say when service will return.
Classes are cancelled for tomorrow, Monday, October 29th.
