Our weekend folks welcomed University Settlement’s Early Head Start staff who visited each class to introduce their programs. They handed out their flyers in different languages and talked about what they do to help parents or grandparents with children under the age of 5.

After that, W3 also welcomed the director of Advocacy who gave citywide participatory budgeting training. The students were able to learn about a lot of new words and talk about what they hope for the city.

Almost at the end of the classes, all the weekend folks went out to enjoy Adobo Festival Block Party to celebrate Filipino American History Month. We got to taste some Filipino culture.

What an eventful weekend!

Last but not least, let’s meet our daytime folks! They come to class 4 mornings a week. Some of them have to drop off their schoolchildren early in the morning on the way and pick them up after class, and some other students have to go to work right after their class or a few of them come to class before hitting the sack in the morning after their night shift. No matter how different their lives are, their goal is the same, to improve their English skills and their lives!

This time, please meet our evening teachers and students! A lot of our evening students are very busy with their full-time job or childcare duties. However, their vigor propels them to their English study and eventually to their success. Hats off to our evening members!

Our new school year kicked off with our weekend classes by having online student orientations on Saturday and the first classes on Sunday. Both new and returning students looked excited to start their English classes. Welcome, everybody!
