Idiom of the Week: Hang Out

Meaning: To spend time with someone in your free time; to relax.

Examples:

I spent all weekend hanging out with my kids.

They used to hang out a lot, but they had an argument and now they never speak to each other.

In her free time she usually hangs out with her friends.

 

Pop Quiz:

Where do people usually not hang out?

A.  At work.

B.  At school.

C.  At home.

The correct answer is A and B. If you’re hanging out, you’re relaxing, having fun, not working or studying.
