Meet our next three students, Aunchanutda, Mara, and Karen. Aunchanutda believes that speaking English will support her in a better life and having a good job in America.
Parkchester resident, Fernando is currently a school bus driver and a driver for access-a-ride. His daughter asked why he is working as a driver now since he used to an elementary school teacher of 17 years in his country. She gave him the encouragement to sign up for English classes with us to improve his language skills. He hopes to work in a school again one day. Hear from Marco, Magda, and Silvia. Marco, a native of Quito, Ecuador, wants to be an English teacher in the future. Magda already has the relevant experience to work at the United Nations but need to improve her English language skills. Silvia wants to start her own catering company. Making friends is hard during the pandemic but they are able to make friends and have the encouragement to improve in their ESOL classes every day. Invest in our new immigrants futures by investing in ALE. #LiteracyLiftsNY @univsettlement
Eloisa wants to become a motivational speaker. Xuebing lost her job as a nail salon worker during the pandemic. Her new goal is to work in cosmetic sales. English is essential for her so she can better communicate with her customers.
